Essex County Council’s new strategy reflected its aim to be the leading local authority in the country. To help them with this ambitious plan, Silk Pearce was commissioned to create a brand campaign that would bring this to life.
Needing to engage with a broad audience, including council employees and strategic partners, as well as residents, government and businesses in Essex and beyond. Our concept was to unite these audiences around a shared vision – which sees all parties working collectively towards creating a better Essex for everyone.
This led us to calling the campaign ‘Everyone’s Essex’. Which has a pleasing double meaning when spoken, and simultaneous creates a sense of belonging and ownership.
The lead deliverable was a short film. It revolves around scenes of Essex’s vibrant urban centres, universities and world class firms, alongside beautiful countryside and coastlines – all captured using a drone and taken from a graphic, birds-eye view. The film’s messaging is strengthened by bold typography, plus the portraits and voices of the council employees who will help deliver the strategy.
As well as creating the concept, we produced the storyboard, wrote the script and directed the shoots. Thanks go also to, Aerial Essex for the stunning drone shots and R+J productions for bringing it all together in post-production.
In addition to the film we designed a strategy document and environmental graphics to brighten the Council’s offices.
